The Powerpackage operates only on shop air, without hydraulic power units. The controls are very simple, the same as for any double acting pneumatic cylinder.

The operating stroke is divided into three stages:
- air-operated approach stroke
- pneumohydraulic powerstroke
- air-operated return stroke
